’s 2015 Vehicle Check Report Makes for Interesting Reading…

46% of all vehicles checked on have at least one warning

Vehicle check website has released a report highlighting the dangers of buying a used car in the UK.

My Car Check provide vehicle checks (also known as HPI checks, reg checks and provenance checks) which alert buyers to possible problems with a specific vehicle. By entering the vehicle’s reg number, information such as if the car has been written off, is stolen or has outstanding finance debt secured against it, is provided. This information allows the potential buyer to negotiate a better deal, or to avoid the vehicle altogether.

Based on all car checks carried out on the My Car Check website in 2015, the report found:

• 46% of all vehicles searched had at least one warning
• Land rover had the highest proportion of warnings (65.7%)
• Land Rover had the highest proportion of stolen warnings (1%)
• Audi had the highest proportion of outstanding finance warnings (11.7%)
• Honda had the highest proportion of write-off warnings (19.4%)
• The average value of a vehicle searched was £7,632
• The top model searched was the Ford Fiesta Zetec
• The top manufacturer searched was Ford
